Adding multiple sashes/door leaves to a frame
This article shows how to use transoms and mullions to add multiple sashes/door leaves to a frame, including double/triple/quadruple windows, fanlights, and sidelights.
The quickest way to draw an item that includes multiple sashes in a single frame is to use a template. But sometimes there won't be a suitable template, so you will have to create the design yourself.
Example 1
Suppose we want to draw a pair of French doors with a sidelight on either side, but have no suitable template as a starting point.
- We can start with a basic door design (it could be a casement or sash window too, it doesn't really matter as we're going to be removing the door leaf and just using the frame). Click the Door Leaf and then Remove below the drawing.

- We're left with an empty frame - select it and change the dimensions as desired.

- Now click Transom / Mullion at the bottom, and select the appropriate design. For French doors with two sidelights, we will need a 3x1 design, as this gives us two mullions to separate the French doors from the sidelights.

- Click the empty section in the middle where the French doors will go, then Change in the bottom right. Select French Door.

- Do the same for each of the side sections, but selecting Direct Glazed Unit or Door.

- Finally, click each of the Mullions and change the Offset Left / Offset Right figure to something more suitable.

Example 2
Suppose we want to draw a quadruple casement with a single long fanlight above, but have no suitable template as a starting point.
- Start off with any basic design - here we have a direct glazed unit. Click Direct Glazed Unit (or Casement Sash etc), then Remove.

- Adjust the size of the empty frame as desired.

- Click Transom / Mullion. We first need to divide the frame into two sections horizontally, so choose the 1x2 design.

- We now need to further sub-divide the bottom section, so click the empty space below the mullion, then Transom / Mullion, and select 2x1.

- Do this again for each of the smaller cutouts.

- Click each of the empty sections, then Change in the bottom right, and select Casement (you can speed up this process by clicking Copy Here after adding the first casement.)

- Click the Transom and adjust the Offset Top.
