Adding new ironmongery parts

Adding hardware to the Part List, Ironmongery Lookup, and Price File.

Adding new ironmongery to the system is a three step process:

1: Add to the Part List

2: Add to the Ironmongery Lookup

3: Update Price File

 Part List

  1. From the main page, click Part List (under Pricing & Config), then Ironmongery.
    >
This page is a complete list of all parts in the system.
  2. To add a new part, either find a similar existing part and click the copy button or click Add Part in the top right.
  3. Fill in the details and click Create New Part.

    1. Part No: this must be unique for every part. Once the part is created, it cannot be edited.
    2. Name: the internal name for the part. Does not appear to the customer on the quotation, but does appear on the internal outputs.
    3. Purchase / Allocated unit of measure: if in doubt, select Each.
    4. Cost / Price: only relevant if your pricing structure uses these fields in its calculations.
    5. IPL: determines which section of the Ironmongery Pick List output the part will appear under (Sash, Casement, or Door).

Ironmongery Lookup

  1. From the main page, click Lookup Editor (under Production), then Ironmongery Lookup.
    >

This page determines how the parts are displayed in the Drawing Board and on the quotations. It allows you to group together similar parts with different finishes under a simplified, customer-friendly part name. e.g. you might have sash lifts in Polished Brass, Polished Chrome, Satin Chrome, and Antique Brass, which can all be grouped together under a single row called "Sash Lift".
Parts not in the Ironmongery Lookup can still be added to drawings via the Part Allocator, but these will not appear on quotes, only on internal outputs.
  2. If you need to add a new row to the editor, type the desired name into the field at the top and click Add.

  3. To add your new part, click the pencil icon in the desired cell, search for the part number from the Part List, and click Save.

It's possible to add multiple parts to a single lookup entry. This is useful when you have several components which you want to appear under a single name on the quotes, such as a Multipoint Locking System.

If you want to add an additional ironmongery finish, go to DrawingBoard Config > Reference Table > Ironmongery Finish.

Updating the Price File

The new part will not be available in the Drawing Board until it is added to a Price File.

From the main page, go to Price File Editor.

New parts can be added to an existing published Price File by clicking Update with New Parts.

However if existing parts have been modified, a new price file will need to be published. For more information, see Price Files: creating, publishing, and updating.

If you are still on Price File 1, you will not see the "Update with New Parts" button, but you can unpublish and republish the Price File to add the parts.

If the new part still doesn't appear in the Drawing Board, make sure that the drawing is on the latest published Price File.
